  1. What is the Keynote Connector?
The Keynote Connector enables us to collect your feedback during an evaluation. The Keynote Connector displays a bar at the top of your screen with buttons that will guide you through evaluations. Pop-up dialog boxes provide evaluation instructions and follow-up questions on your experience throughout evaluations.

  2. How do I start the Keynote Connector when I am invited to an evaluation?
Once the Keynote Connector is installed, it will automatically start up whenever you begin an evaluation in your Internet Explorer browser.

  3. How do I use the Keynote Connector?
The Keynote Connector displays a tool bar at the top of your screen with three action buttons: Answer, Give Up, and Comment.

Instructions in the dialog box remind you what to do during the evaluation.
    • Answer: When you have completed a task and are ready to answer questions about the task, click the Answer button.
    • Give Up: If a task is taking more time and effort than you would normally spend, click the Give up button.
    • Comment: Share your thoughts with us at any time during the evaluation by clicking the Comment button.

  4. What are the system requirements for the Keynote Connector?
The following are the minimum system requirements for the Keynote Connector:
    • Windows 2000, XP or Vista
    • Internet Explorer 5.5, 6.0 or 7.0
    • Pentium 500MHZ or better
    • 1MB disk space

  5. How do I uninstall the Keynote Connector?
    Follow these steps:
    1. Under the Start menu in Windows, click on Control Panel.
    2. Double-click on Add or Remove Programs.
    3. From the list of installed programs, choose Keynote Connector.
    4. Click on the Remove button.
    5. When prompted to uninstall Keynote Connector click OK.

Some files may remain locked or in use and cannot be immediately removed, but they will be removed the next time you restart your computer.

  6. When I use the Keynote Connector, what does it track and when?
You must use the Keynote Connector to perform a customer experience evaluation. During the evaluation, once an objective or specified part of the evaluation has been completed, a brief upload will send Keynote information about the pages you have browsed. Comments you have provided and/or the answers to the questions that you were asked will be uploaded at the end of the evaluation. When you are not actively participating in an evaluation, we do not track your movements on the Web. No information is uploaded to us apart from the data gathered during live customer experience evaluations.

  7. I just got a 3000X error trying to upload my evaluation data. What do I do?
30001 The Keynote server rejected the uploaded file.
30002 Error while writing the upload file to local storage.
30003 HTTP or TCP/IP error while uploading a file.
30004 This error message was sent from the Keynote server.
30005 The Keynote server rejected upload file.

If you experience one of these error messages, your evaluation information has not been uploaded because the connection between your computer and the Keynote servers has failed. You may have lost your Internet connection, or the Keynote servers may be too busy to accept the upload. Wait a little while, and then click the "Try Again" button on the Keynote upload dialog to submit the data again.

If that doesn't work, check to see if you still have an Internet connection:
    1. Open a new window in Internet Explorer.
    2. Visit another Web site that you are reasonably sure is working. If you can get there, you still have a working Internet connection. If you can't, you probably have lost your connection to the Internet.
    3. Redial your Internet Service Provider to establish a new connection.
    4. Once you are reconnected, find the Keynote upload dialog and click the "Try Again" button. If the dialog is not present, launch another instance of Internet Explorer to prompt the dialog to reappear. Then click the "Try Again" button.
If you are connected but are still having problems uploading your evaluation data, there may be heavy traffic on our servers. Try waiting a little longer, and then click the "Try Again" button on the Keynote upload dialog again.

If you are taking the evaluation from a computer on an internal network, contact your system administrator and ask whether there is a firewall that could interfere with uploading your answers to Keynote.

  8. My computer froze while trying to upload my evaluation results. What should I do?
There may be a number of different reasons why your system froze. First, try it again and see if your computer locks up a second time. If the lockup consistently occurs, we suggest trying the following.
    1. Close all running programs before attempting to take the evaluation.
    2. Try taking the evaluation from a different computer or system.
If you are taking a customer experience evaluation from a computer that is connected to a private network, such as at work or school, talk to your network administrator. There may be a filtering system and/or a firewall that prevents the transfer of data between Keynote and your computer.

  9. What if I use AOL? Can I still participate?
If you use AOL on a Windows 2000, XP or Vista computer, you can still take evaluations, however Internet Explorer version 5.5 or greater must also be installed on your computer.

  10. What if I use a Macintosh computer? Or Web TV?
At this time, our Connector technology only works on Windows 2000, XP and Vista computers. There is currently no version compatible with Macintosh computers or Web TV.

  11. Why do I need Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater installed on my computer to install and use the Keynote Connector?
The Keynote Connector uses several files that are part of Internet Explorer. Netscape Navigator and other browsers do not use or install these same files.
